Stafford Hospital song officially released

STAFFORD songwriter, Clare Palmer's single '50,000 People Can't Be Wrong' has been officially released and campaigners now have their eyes on a 'UK Top 40' spot next Sunday.

Ahead of its release, Clare travelled to radio stations across Staffordshire to promote the single, written to support the campaign to save Stafford Hospital.

The 29 year-old was interviewed by Stuart Ellis on the BBC Radio Stoke Saturday Breakfast show {Click here to listen againand sang a live, acoustic version of the single on air.

She also visited the Signal Radio studios in Stoke-on-Trent and was interviewed by journalist Jenny Bonson, ahead of the push for downloads next week. Clare said;

"Being live on air is nerve-racking for someone like me, I'm not as confident as people may think! But I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone, because I believe that we need to fight for our NHS."

The mum-of-two was then supported by friends and family, along with more than 1000 other people at the Night of Lights' event held on near the A34 between Stafford and Cannock on Saturday evening.

The outdoor concert was the latest event organised 'Support Stafford Hospital'  to raise awareness of the campaign to retain acute services at the town's hospital.

Lanterns lit up the crowd at the event
Clare was joined on stage by children from the Stafford Grammar School Choir, holding lanterns and her eldest son, who was born at the hospital. She said it was a magical evening;

"Performing at the 'Night of Lights' is something I'll never forget. Seeing so many people light up the night sky was magical, and singing with part of the Stafford Grammar School choir added to the atmosphere."
